Margaret Kisstow’s Children’s Home - Arima,
Trinidad
We provide programs for the 42 children at
Margaret Kisstow’s Children’s Home in Arima, Trinidad. These are
children who have been abandoned, primarily by parents addicted to
crack-cocaine. Most have suffered extreme physical, sexual and
emotional abuse. In this context, participating artists primarily
focus on emotional rehabilitation. Our programs include
instruction in break dancing, steel drums, acting, traditional
dance, visual art, creative writing and singing.
We are
thrilled to announce the programs included for our upcoming winter
camp at Margaret Kisstow’s Children’s Home in Arima Trinidad. As
requested by our students, ballet and break-dancing lessons will
be provided. We are excited to have Son Ngoc Nguyen,
professional break-dancer, choreographer and instructor as our
workshop leader for dance! We will also be providing workshops in
steel drum performance, acting and improvisation, carnival costume
making, and painting.
Donate Now to continue to make our
camp in Trinidad a success!
Our program in Trinidad is made possible by a
partnership with Tony Hall, playwright, producer, actor and
founder of Lordstreet Theater. We also work closely with the music
department at the University of the West Indies: St. Augustine.
